Six Argentine artists based in Berlin on migration, identity, and the fluidity of belonging.

A Constant State of Becoming brings together six Argentine artists based in Berlin. Through photography, video, installation, and experimental techniques, it reflects on migration, personal relationships, and the reconfiguration of everyday life — on the fragmented nature of identity, the emotional landscapes of displacement, and the continuous adaptation that defines existence in a state of becoming.
Fragmentation and integration
Migration is a rupture, a division of the self across geographies, languages, and cultures. In In between worlds, Delfina Carmona constructs surreal, dreamlike images that reflect the emotional dislocation of inhabiting two worlds at once, where the familiar becomes strange and the strange becomes familiar.
Martina Zamudio ’s Integrationskurs takes a documentary approach: portraits of her classmates from a German integration course highlight the diversity of migrant experiences, questioning the expectation that migrants assimilate while celebrating the individuality of those on this shared journey.
Emotional landscapes
In Meine Liebe Jus, Justina Leston reflects on the evolving bond between a migrant daughter and her father. A playful, tender exchange of cat images becomes a visual language that bridges the emotional distance created by migration.
In Mi mamá me ama, Jasmine Bakalarz turns to the intimate and often isolating experience of raising children in a foreign land. Her photographs hold personal vulnerability and artistic expression together, revealing the quiet resilience of mothers building a home far from their roots.
Reconfiguration of the everyday
Julieta Pestarino ’s Paths of Lights examines historical memory and resilience through the life of Lisl Steiner, a 95-year-old photographer who emigrated from Austria to Argentina to escape the Nazis — a reminder of how leaving one’s homeland echoes across decades.
Lucía Szych ’s Alphabet of Distances transforms soundscapes into visual forms, capturing the vibrations of language as it shapes experiences of foreignness and familiarity. Her spoken-drawings explore the fragility of memory and the impermanence of identity, creating a tactile map of dislocation.
