Artist
Melanie Garland
An artist and researcher working between art and anthropology on migration, borders, and placemaking.
Melanie Garland works between art and anthropology on migration, border regimes, and the ways people build a place while in movement. Her practice combines installation, sound, photography, and publishing with long-form research alongside the communities her projects concern.
Making Places Inbetween is her project for Bardo Projektraum: an exhibition-as-book in which the chapters of a publication become collaborative, multivocal works, drawing together placemaking narratives from Italy, France, and Chile.
